Botanical Boys events are immersive, hands-on workshops designed to reconnect urban dwellers with nature through the art of terrarium building and botanical design. Held in vibrant locations across London—including their flagship site at Coal Drops Yard—these sessions offer a creative escape where participants learn to build self-sustaining miniature ecosystems. Led by expert horticulturalists, the events blend education on plant biology with artistic expression, providing all the tools, glass vessels, and exotic greenery needed to take a piece of the "great outdoors" home.

What this session offers

Create your own piece of natural wall art in our immersive moss-making class held in the heart of Coal Drops Yard. Hosted by Botanical Boys, this hands-on workshop invites you to design a beautiful framed preserved moss artwork using sustainably sourced bun moss and sheet moss. You’ll learn about: The difference between preserved moss types, including bun and sheet moss How moss is sustainably harvested and preserved using eco-friendly methods Techniques for layering textures and mounting moss into wooden frames to create hills and valleys. Sketching out your landscape. Note: Sharp scissors are used in the class Our tutor will guide you through our moss inspired Kings Cross studio and show you how versatile our preserved moss is used in design pieces. Then you’ll be seated in our calming workspace and step-by-step you’ll design a tactile, 3D mossscape to take home — perfect for bringing a calming, biophilic touch to any interior. No watering. No maintenance. Just pure, natural beauty. What other facilities we offer: We have a Moss Bar on site serving South African wines and Gin & Tonic, soft drinks, Coffee, and healthy light snacks to nibble on. Public toilets directly beneath our moss studio. Lifts are available to our store right next door. All materials are provided, including a handcrafted wooden frame (approx.
